At the end of the course you will have access to a guaranteed job interview with Dallara.
Limited-number course: registrations are open and selections are underway!

The model maker course is aimed at motoring enthusiasts who dream of working in a model shop and wind tunnel and who are in great demand by manufacturers of racing vehicles.
The work of a model maker in a model shop and during wind tunnel sessions is a fascinating job that combines craftsmanship skills with high technical knowledge. This professional is responsible for creating small-scale models that are then tested in the wind tunnel to analyse various aerodynamic aspects and fluid-dynamic behaviour.

The goal of the model maker is to produce accurate scale models that are then tested in the wind tunnel.
During the construction phase, accuracy is crucial, as the aerodynamic characteristics of the model must faithfully reflect the aircraft concept under investigation.
The materials that are used can be varied and of many origins, and they all have the aim of guaranteeing the best result in terms of test success.

The techniques combine manual work with the use of advanced technologies such as 3D printing. In addition to making the model, it is the model maker’s job to prepare all the components that will be used during Gdv’s development sessions to achieve the project results.
To do this, the model maker works closely with engineers and researchers to understand the objectives of the tests and the parameters to be measured. Based on the feedback received from the engineers, the model maker may have to make changes to the model for subsequent tests, through an iterative process that is vital to refine the design and improve the aerodynamic performance of the object under study.
During tunnel tests, the model maker must replace aerodynamic parts of the model quickly and accurately, limiting the costly waiting time between tests of the various aerodynamic packages while ensuring absolute precision so as not to skew the test results. In this phase, the emotions felt by the model maker are similar to those felt during a pit stop.
The role of the model maker in a wind tunnel is therefore crucial to the success of the aerodynamic tests and the results that the real car will have during racing.
There will also be a short theoretical part, important to better understand the figure of the model maker.

To those who dream of working in modelling and wind tunnels contributing to the aerodynamic development of racing vehicles.

Experienced model makers with interventions also by Dallara technicians.

Course lessons are held on a weekend formula at the MTS headquarters in Lesmo, a state-of-the-art training centre equipped with state-of-the-art tools.

Dallara Factory Tour and lessons at the Dallara model shop and wind tunnel thanks to the High-Risk Workplace Safety Course included in the program.

It is possible to pay for the course in three instalments to meet the needs of all students.

Each student on the course will have the opportunity to have an interview at Dallara, which will evaluate the placement of new technicians on the staff, a figure that is highly sought after given the shortage of highly specialized personnel.
